help - complete beginner!

This is probably laughable but I can not seem to get the lighting/camera right for my jewellery pics.

When I look through the viewfinder the image  looks fine and lit well.  BUT the image on the digital screen is different.  Sometimes it seems there is too much light and the jewellery is over exposed or today on a white background it is really grey. I just don't understand. I haven't been able to get a single picture.

Is there something wrong with my camera?

ps I have tried changing the setting to manual and increasing the exposure thing, but that doesn't seem to work either.

Re: help - complete beginner!

This is because you are new. One of my friends is professional and according to him, the works get better in time.
Take your time and you will find the defect...
